ANALYSIS OF THE DEVELOPMENT AND FINANCIAL CONDITION OF ENTERPRISES DURING THE WAR PERIOD

Abstract

In 2022, at least 109 large and medium-sized enterprises suffered direct losses as a result of the full-scale Russian invasion on February 24, 2022. The total amount of direct losses of enterprises, including state owners and entrepreneurs, is estimated at 1 13 billion, of which $9 billion is the share of losses of large and medium - sized enterprises. Of course, the arrival of War shocked even the most trained organizations. But our interlocutors told us that after the retreat of the Russian army from Kiev, they were largely able to adapt to the new reality. When Russian attacks targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, they quickly created new jobs equipped with generators and satellite internet. When employees had to move, employers offered support, training, and resources. To stay afloat while customers disappeared and revenue plummeted, executives found creative ways to reduce operating costs without laying off people. Many also described how they managed to develop adaptability and resilience, especially when it came to the distributed work that their teams had already demonstrated during the pandemic. The war with Russia defines a new Ukraine. The world has learned about the determination and resilience of Ukrainians in defending their country. But Ukrainians are protecting not only the borders of their country, they are protecting the new future of Ukraine. And this future is already being formed. Every aspect of Ukrainian society – business, finance, education, healthcare, legislation, government – is undergoing reforms, and as Ukraine implements further reforms necessary for its status in the EU, this will only expand business opportunities.
