Abstract

This paper outlines the 30-year history of Acedle and its contributions to the emergence of the field of foreign language and culture, along with an account of its current activity. It also highlights the debates going on between the current members of Acedle. This organisation is generally characterised by productive exchanges between its members, who contribute to and renew the vitality of the organisation. Through a combination of reflection and engagement, Acedle plays an active role in the cultural and intellectual life of the research field.
