The asymmetric unit of the title compound, 2C5H11NO2S·C4H6O4, comprises two crystallographically independent methionine residues, which exist in the zwitterionic form, and a neutral succinic acid molecule. Both methionine residues have a gauche-I conformation. In the crystal, the various components are linked via O—H...O, N—H...O and C—H...O hydrogen bonds forming slabs parallel to the ab plane
