Il dolore come malattia - Pain and disease

Abstract

Without neglecting some suggestions coming from philosophy and physics, this review aims to illustrate the discussion on pain research and its management. Substantial progress has been made in pharmacology and in technological innovations in response to neuropathic, chronic and cancer pain, with considerable repercussions on the prospects of care, clinical pathways and on the status of elderly patients. Two promising programmatic lines are emerging, concerning regenerative medicine and bioengineering applications.
