This paper is based on the premise that the issue of orality must be the object of attention in mother tongue teaching. Nonetheless, there is a diversity of attitudes concerning this subject. This study discusses, in varying levels of depth, some of the most productive perspectives concerning orality. It comments on some research reports in the field in order to suggest different activities and methodologies to middle and high school teachers when handling the issue.
