Present, past and future of Primary Progressive Aphasia: A bibliographic update
Abstract
The present study revises the literature regarding the current knowledge about Primary Progressive Aphasia (PPA). The study presents the main diagnostic criteria for PPA and those used to classify patients according to international criteria in one of the PPA variants: semantic, non-fluent or agrammatic, and logopenic or phonological. The study also details linguistic affectation features along with the rest of cognitive functions. The neural and molecular bases for each PPA variant are revised. Finally, we present the batteries and tests designed to diagnose PPA patients.
