A further decline in the popularity of the popular parties of the CDU, CSU and SPD; the rise of the rating of «green» party ( first places in popularity according to the surveys); the upcoming land elections in Saxony and Brandenburg in September, in Thuringia in October; discussions about the growth of right-wing extremism and radicalism (caused by the murder of communal politician V. Ljubke); internal feuds in the Alternative for Germany; the health problems of the Federal Chancellor A. Merkel, the intrigue with the choice of U. von der Leinen as the EU Commission Chairman – the discussion of these topics in June-July 2019 were in focus of the political discourse in Germany. Apparently, the traditional summer break in German politics this year is not expected. In the paper the author analyses current political party trends in Germany and gives a forecast of further developments.
