Aspectos simbólicos de las pirámides con rampa. Ensayo interpretativo

Abstract

Research on Pachacamac, specifically on pyramids with ramps, is based on a central set of data whereby emphasis is placed on the functional, chronological and other aspects of these buildings, using archaeological material, or else the support of written documents from the 16th and 17th centuries after the Spanish conquest. This article suggests an interpretative focus based on the symbolic meanings underlying the architectural features and their association. Reference is made to the spatial organization within a pyramid with ramps, which arises not only from an estimate of the functional characteristics of its components, but is also due to a rational ordering of these components, where symbolic aspects are interwoven with functional ones, the sacred with the profane, and opposing elements with complementary ones.
