Intracellular amastigotes in fine‐needle aspiration cytology of cutaneous leishmaniasis

Abstract

Key Clinical Message We report a case of 45‐year‐old farmer who presented with solitary crateriform non healing ulcer with crust over left dorsal hand. FNAC of lesion showed intracellular round to oval amastigotes within macrophage on giemsa stain. This simple diagnostic method could be utilized as a diagnostic tool in resource poor setting.
