BRAIN BIOELECTRIC ACTIVITY IN CHILDREN WITH IDIOPATHIC EPILEPSY
Abstract
The aim was to study the bioelectrical activity of the brain in children with idiopathic epilepsy. Using clinical, neurological and neurophysiological methods, we examined 60 children (32 boys, 53% and 28 girls, 47%) aged 5 to 10 years old.Results. In group 1, 14 children (24%) were found to suffer from absence epilepsy, while the remaining 26 patients (43%) had tonic-clonic seizures. In group 2, 20 cases (33%) of rolandic epilepsy were diagnosed. The results demonstrate that having even few clinical data, it is possible to discern between different types of seizures in children with idiopathic epilepsy by using a routine EEG analysis.
