Rusya’nın Türkiye’ye Yönelik Turizm Talebi: ARDL Sınır Testi Yaklaşımı(Russia’s Tourism Demand For Turkey: ARDL Bound Testing Approach)
Abstract
The tourism sector has an important place in Turkey's economy in terms of the economic growth, employment and balance of payments. Russia is one of the most important countries in tourism demand for Turkey. For this reason, the main purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the factors that affect Russia's tourism demand for Turkey. In order to explain the demand for tourism, a number of leading macroeconomic variables variables are used, which are income from Russia, tourism prices in Turkey, alternative tourism regions (Greece) tourism prices and aircraft crisis dummy variable. The analysis includes the periods 2002-2016 and quarterly data are used. In the study, bound test and ARDL approach are used. According to the results of the analysis, income and alternative tourism destination price changes have positive effect in the short and long term. The tourism prices create negative effect only in the short term. The aircraft crisis has an negative impact in the short term.
