Introduction: Bioethics constitutes a new dimension of Ethics, as a generator of a new type of moral community, coherent and committed, which contributes to improving the odontologist-patient relationship. Objective: To determine the level of knowledge of bioethics in third-year students of Stomatology in the academic year 2019-2020. Methods: a cross-sectional, descriptive, observational study conducted at the Raúl González Sánchez School of Dentistry between September 2019 and February 2020. From a total of 244 students, 77 were included in this research. The survey applied as a data collection method, to determine the level of knowledge of bioethics. Results: female sex predominated, represented by 79.2%. Most of the students had a low level of knowledge of bioethics, with a predominance of females in 41.5%. The average of perception about the principles of bioethics was medium, with the principle of beneficence as the most affected by 49.4%; 59.7% had a lower level of perception about the practice of informed consent. Conclusions: The level of knowledge about bioethics in third-year dental students is low. Ignorance of the definition itself was found in more than half of the sample. The low level of knowledge about the practice of informed consent demonstrates the lack of understanding of the principle of autonomy.
