Toxicity of lead in the content and translocation of nutrients in tomatoes
Abstract
This study evaluated the effect of applying rising doses of lead to cultured tomatoes by evaluating the content and translocation index of macronutrients and micronutrients. Tomato plants were cultivated in Clark’s nutrient solution and submitted to rising doses of Pb: 0, 0.25, 1.0, 5.0, and 10.0mg.L-1. The doses of Pb reduced the content of K in the shoots, S in the roots, and Zn in the fruits. In relation to translocation, the Pb reduced P in fruits and shoots, and did not influence the translocation of Zn and Fe, Ca and Cu in the fruits or K and Mg in the shoots.
