Los «saraos entretenidos» de Castillo Solórzano: un recorrido por sus colecciones de novelas a la luz de un prólogo

Abstract

The article travels through the construction of the collections of novellas by Castillo Solórzano from the prologue of Sala de recreación, as the author presents therein a synthesis of the necessary elements to understand the phenomenon of the novella, highlighting, in particular, the inclusion of«versos y saraos entretenidos» which are so frequent in the work of the writer from Valladolid.This characteristic of the texts by Castillo emphasizes the hegemony of the delectare over the prodesse and opens the way for the consolidation of an entertainment literature.
