Baudelaire, Manet et les illusions de « La Corde »
Abstract
This article proposes to reconsider Baudelaire’s way of inscribing his relationship with Manet in one of his prose poems, “La Corde”. Even if the dedication of the poem could encourage the identification of the speaker with the author of La Musique aux Tuileries, the speaker remains a fictitious character. A study of referential data proves that the prose poem is constructed through fictional games of mirrors, which are grafted onto biographical episodes and weaken their boundaries.
