Criteria of texts selection for forming socio cultural competence to high school students while teaching reading at the lessons of Culture Study.
Abstract
The article reveals the criteria for selecting texts for forming sociocultural competence to high school students, while teaching them reading at the lessons of country study, which are based on cross-cultural interaction as one of the fastest-growing areas of language study, forming cultural awareness of the students. Purpose. To analyze the number of factors that influence the texts selection process for forming socio-cultural competence in reading in the country study teaching to high school students and to establish the criteria for selecting texts for forming sociocultural competence to high school students, while teaching them reading at the lessons of culture study for effective cross-cultural interaction. Results. As a result of the study, qualitative and quantitative criteria of texts selection for forming sociocultural competence to high school students, while teaching them reading at the lessons of culture study were identified. By qualitative criteria of texts selection, we mean authenticity, subject matter, sociocultural and country study value, informative value, aesthetic value, lexical, grammatical and stylistic difficulties of the text. The quantitative criteria of texts selection include their readability. Key words:
