Egregio, glorioso, divo: Agustín de Hipona en Antonio de Guevara

Abstract

The analysis of the Augustinian quote in the production of fray Antonio de Guevara shows relevant changes: from an initial testimonial presence highly praiseworthy when the issue is profane, appearances increase as the Franciscan’s work abandons the purely humanistic interests in order to opt for a composition of ascetic or religious type. The quoted books also change because the audience to whom they are addressed is different.
