Luces en la sombra, los primeros siglos de Estíbaliz a través de sus documentos (siglos X-XII)
Abstract
Los primeros siglos de Estíbaliz, antes del inicio de la construcción de la iglesia románica a mediados del siglo XII, resultan oscuros debido a la escasez de documentos y referencias que se han conservado. Sin embargo, una atenta mirada a estos vestigios documentales permite atisbar el papel que jugó Estíbaliz en la política alavesa del siglo XI como uno de los lugares de poder más relevantes del territorio, dirigido durante esta centuria por la familia de los Señores de Vizcaya. A través del estudio de la documentación escrita conservada, el presente artículo busca aportar luz sobre este enclave para comprender cómo era la tenencia de Estíbaliz antes de que se construyera la actual iglesia. By studying the written documents that have been preserved, this article aims to shed light on this enclave in order to understand the nature of the tenancy of Estíbaliz before the current church was built.
