Transformation potentials of the Danube coast in Novi Sad on the move from Šodros to Štrand
Abstract
Novi Sad waterfront has been unregulated for a long time. Programmatically and functionally it is not adapted to the needs of the city. In physical and visual terms it is alienated from its users. This primarily refers to the unregulated parts on the right bank, ie the Srem side. On Bačka, on the left side, there is a quay that has been repeatedly edited with two new bridges built. There is a well-kept public beach, the public beach of Štrand. However, further upstream from the beach, the quay along the embankment is unregulated, and the movement areas also. The Ribarac island, located behind the embankment towards the Danube, contains a number of catering facilities that are not planned here. Part of this area, outside the protected part of the embankment, is often flooded and inoperative during high water levels. For this reason, the need for transformation is based on bringing the coast closer to the users, introducing appropriate programs and facilities, arranging traffic surfaces, protecting flood surfaces and putting them into operation in all weather conditions.
