This article traces overlaps between cultural studies and science studies, suggesting the migration of knowledge and culture as a common theme. Both fields have addressed travelling cultures and shared the idea that transportation also always means transformation. Knowledge and culture are both local and global. The article also indicates how the two fields have understood power and non elite groups differently. In closing, the article suggests that a future challenge for both fields is to understand the effects of migrating western techno science to future generations.
