In this paper we examine a resource tapped by cognitive cultural anthropology wich is activated during the psychological process of conceptual-linguistic creation/ construction of meaning: the cultural model. ie. the intersubjective schematization manifested in a congnitive-linguistic symbolization, wich is therefore shared by a cultural-linguistic community and has a multi-layered character. Cultural models are closely interwoven with mental models These structure the particular woldview or version of reality of individual speakers and are, in turn, structured by their discursive constructions or practices, since it is in such mental models that the ongoing process of mediaton between the inheritance of collective meanings and the discursive creation of new ones takes place. In our research, the discourse activated during cognitive psychology therapy has been analysed, as it reveals itself in an ad hoc corpus of samples excerpted from a variety of sources. Thu the paper deals with the relation that holds between one implicit model of cultural- cognitive categorization and its rhetorical-discursive realization (metaphor, special collocations, lexical continuities, etc.) and is therefore aimed at showing the linkins between, on the one hand, the cognitive poetics of actual text produced in therapy sessions, and, on the other, the poetic and heteroglossic structure of the underlying cognitive models that are reconstructed by the analyst in the interpretation process as well as presupposed by the patients as they structure their own personal identity, pain, experience, and so forth.
