Strokovne revije med potrebo in prestižem : Professional Journals between Desire and Presige
Abstract
The emphasis of the paper is put on the fact that scientific disciplines that want to present their achievements and advancement to the professional public need professional journals, otherwise research outputs and practical achievements, despite electronic media, remain inaccessible to many. Printed publications can be accessible to several generations of experts. Editors trying to follow the standards for professional journals are often faced with the dilemma whether to raise or lower the criteria. Thus we ask ourselves whether harsher criteria mean better quality, how this aspect is viewed by the providers of funds and reviewers, and what is the weight of publications in domestic professional journals in terms of awarding faculty titles. This and other questions were raised in this paper, and above all, I wanted to address the problems encountered by editors in publishing professional journals (financing, organization, reviewing, design and lastly the expert value of such journals).
