Private gardens and their impact on water consumption in Spain. State of the matter

The increase of the urban development that have been happened in Spain since the second half of the last century has shown different land impacts and the unsustainable urban model implanted. In this regard, on the outskirts of large conurbations and the coastal area it has implemented a low urban density model where is characteristic the single family gardens. The objective of this research is to make a state of the art, from a land and geographical perspective that analyze private gardens and their impact on water consumption, identify areas of study, implemented methodologies, and identify the similarities and the differences between the studies analyzed. Methodologically it has conducted a literature search in various databases and the results show how this subject has been discussed since the early 2000s in the areas of the Mediterranean coast.
