To gain knowledge of the history of medicine in Cuba, its origins and organization must be studied, as well as the personalities who influenced its development since it was established as a social practice; for example, Dr. Rómulo Soler Vaillant, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor and Consultant, member of the Cuban Society of Surgery, Trauma Section, Honorary member of the Ibero-Latin American Society of Surgeons, the Latin American Federation of Surgery and the Pan American Society of Trauma. He was a renowned surgeon, scientist and pedagogue, with great knowledge, which he expressed in his various works, which remained as an important legacy of wisdom and research carried out by him and dedicated to all Cuban health workers and especially to students, residents and specialists in surgery.
