In his essay the author inquires into the value of the image and the relationship between the xvith century Poetry and the figurative Arts and the Painting. Particularly, the work reconstructs the presence of the lady-love pictorial portrait in Spanish lyric poetry from Gutierre de Cetina to Fernando de Herrera, following three lines that pay attention to the connections between the painted effigy and the inner image, as well as to the contrast between Art and Nature, the competition between painted image and the idea or “forma vera” of the female beauty.
