Internet has significantly modified the relationship between public opinion and history, starting primarily from great diffusion of websites and then of social networks and typical tools of web 2.0. This strong impact is evident also in educational environments, such as schools and cultural institutions. The first part of this article intends to reflect on these mechanisms. The focus will then move on Wikipedia, the most used online encyclopedia, also among students and teachers. The article will finally analyze the various training courses for teachers dedicated to the active and conscious use of Wikipedia, promoted and performed by Piedmontese institutes associated with the Ferruccio Parri National Institute and then by the National Institute itself.
