With the recent introduction of cheaper plasterless articulators, there is now a convenient method for orthodontists to study the occlusion of patients in more detail. Therefore an overview of articulators will be presented. The use of semi-adjustable articulators in a team approach to occlusal, T.M.J. and orthognathic problems will also be discussed. The articulator is another diagnostic aid which may be combined with the history, the radiographs and clinical observation to provide a better assessment of the patient in certain circumstances.
