Kresy was an inexhaustible source of inspiration for a tender artistic sensitivity. Ukrainian topics, "transformed into an infinite number of variants", thus caused some "concerns" in scientific circles. All this is a testimony to the "extraordinary" nature of this phenomenon. The subject of our article refers to works belonging to various periods of the artist's life and work, where Ukraine is constantly present, which, apart from traditional landscapes, has a different level of expression. Iwaszkiewicz's Ukraine often functions as a philosophical and aesthetic concept and derives from the Kiev period. When considering the problem of Ukraine in literary works, one must remember that the world is represented as a product of the imagination and personal experiences of artists who, in turn, represent the collective consciousness of the borderlands. Among other things, the article is devoted to the problems of Iwaszkiewicz's space. Considering space as a phenomenon explainable in the order of the morphology of a literary work, one of the principles of organizing its composition and theme plan is a chronotope of the works of the author of Fame and Glory. The basic types of space: pragmatic, mythical and abstract, have an "artistic bond" with historical time. The subject will also be the heroes of Iwaszkiewicz's works, characters related to Ukraine and the Polish environment inhabiting these areas. A cursory analysis of Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz's work shows that the image of Ukraine, as a constantly present element of this artist's writing, changed along with the consciousness of the writer and the entire generation for whom the borderland experiences became a school of life, determined the type of sensitivity, worldview system and aesthetic values.
