Abstract
The Ash'ari group has an important position in the scientific and intellectual history of the Islamic nation and in its existing reality. Not only because a large group of scholars and thinkers, in the past and present, belong to it, but also because of the large and homogeneous scholarly conglomerate they represented throughout the centuries in the Islamic world, which is important in preserving the cultural and social structure of the nation. This research uses literary research with qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the analysis are that Dr. Al-Shafi’i was distinguished by the precise and positive combination between Islamic culture and Western culture, and the effect of this on his scientific and social opinions and positions, and that Al-Shafi’i belongs in moderation to the Ash'ari. His opinion is a verbal trend that includes Ash'ari and Maturid, and an archaeological trend that includes Salafism, al-Zahir, and the scientific vision presented by Dr. Hassan al-Shafi’i supports the spirit of harmony within the Sunni spectrum, and is characterized by tolerance in general.
