The aim of the study is to find out the opinions of social studies teachers on children councils. Phenomenology model, which is one of the qualitatative methods, was employed for the study. The data of the study was collected through semistructured interview with 20 social studies teachers in 7 different secondary schools. Content analysis method was used to analyze the data. According to the results of the study, the teachers generally find children councils positive and they think that they help children improve democracy consciousness. They also add that children councils are an opportunity to use their rights of participation but they are not practiced commonly and the number of councils is not enough.
