FATE OF SCIENTIST IN THE VORTEX OF TIME (PAVEL SEREBROVSKY)
Abstract
This article presents the restored biography and analysis of scientific activity of Pavel V. Serebrovsky known domestic biologist who died in the Siege of Leningrad. Being Doctor of Biological Sciences, a talented popularizer of science and a student of M.A. Menzbier and P.P. Sushkin, he worked as head of the sector of Ornithology of the Zoological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. His studies were the starting point for monitoring avifauna of the center of European Russia (Nizhny Novgorod region and adjacent regions) and made a great contribution to the knowledge of the mechanisms of action of environmental factors on the distribution and evolution of birds. In the history of science he is known as an evolutionist, zoogeographer and ornithologist. His scientific interests were focused on ornithological geography, history of Palearctic avifauna, studying the effect of climate on the evolution of birds, variability of bird subspecies.
