<i>Landslides</i>: ¿deslizamientos o movimientos del terreno? Definicion, clasificaciones y terminologia

Abstract

The use of mass movement terminology in Spanish is the result of the direct translation from the English terms. This has created some confusion in the applicability of terms such as landslides. In this paper, a proposal is presented to conciliate those differences providing new terms in Spanish, which correspond to their real meaning in this language. In addition here I present a review of the associated nomenclature to the most important aspects of mass movement processes, and their corresponding explanation is also presented.
