Visiones y mortificaciones como mecanismos de control en un monasterio del siglo XVIII: las monjas visionarias de Malagón
Abstract
The mystical visions and supernatural experiences that many nuns claimed to suffer were not always true. In fact, sometimes they became useful mechanisms to obtain benefits. This article seeks to study a specific case of false visionaries in the monastery of Discalced Carmelite nuns of Malagón, which were processed by the Inquisitorial Court of Toledo. It is about three nuns who used mystical visions and the use of mortifying exercises as means to obtain influence, power and other ambitions within the monastery.
