Rare Trousseau’s Syndrome and Factor V Leiden Mutation With Ovary Carcinoma

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: It was aimed to discuss recurrent thromboembolic events in a case with ovary carcinoma and resistant to treatment. CASE: A 52 year-old woman with malignant ovary carcinoma had 3 attacks of ischemic stroke in spite of available antiaggregan treatment at a period with short intervals. Later, she developed arterial and venous thrombosis over the lower and upper extremities though effective doses of anticoagulant therapy has been started. The patient’s diagnosis was Trousseau’s syndrome and Factor V Leiden heterozygote mutation has been observed in detailed investigations. CONCLUSION: Trousseau’s syndrome should be considered with recurrent and unexplained thromboembolic events and the cases must be investigated for the occult malignancy
