We analyze how Mathematical Modeling (MM) associated with Problem Solving (PR) presents itself in academic research that uses them together. As a methodological approach, we use the procedures of Mapping in Educational Research. The data were constituted from the selection of 12 surveys published in the CAPES Thesis Catalog and Google Scholar. For analysis, we established five categories: a) theoretical references of research; b) the problems investigated / research interests; c) methodologies used in research; d) main research results; and e) prospects for continuity. The study allowed the identification of theoretical and methodological approaches between the analyzed works and shows that the focus of the research is centered on the reflections, perceptions and actions of students and teachers during the process of Mathematical Modeling and Problem Solving. And he also pointed out that when students develop activities of this type, they expand their mathematical skills, becoming skilled in solving problems.
