The use of the constructivist approach in social studies education and the social studies curriculum have earned individuals the ability to understand and think rather than memorize historical events. Museums which have started to gain importance in the field of education in our country in recent years are the places that are able to serve new and efficient teaching opportunities for the teachers and learners. Museums are no longer places where the objects are only displayed, there has been a tendency towards an understanding in which the focus is on the attempts to establish communication between the living museum and its visitors. This study aims at determining the meaning of learning process in boarding museum environment for secondary school students. Within the framework of this aim, this study has been based on object- centered museum activities, learning through experience, experiencing by the students themselves, revealing the meaning they impose on learning process of social studies through activities in the museum, materializing social studies programme which is composed of abstract issues and increasing the permanence of learning. This study has been carried out by using qualitative research methods. Case study which is commonly used in qualitative researches has been used in this study. Application process of the research has been conducted in 2014- 2015 Education term with 8 female and 10 male students who study in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades in Çorum Merkez Dumlupınar Secondary School. Interview forms have been used in the study as a data collection tool. In the analysis process of qualitative data, all raw data has been transferred into computer environment and coding has been carried out by using NVİVO 10 package program.
