About some of historical roots of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict

Abstract

On the look-out for the roots of Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the ways of its adjustment the author approaches the circumstances of the state division of Russia and Ukraine and asserts that they affected and continue to render strong to Russian-Ukrainian attitudes, generated steady stereotypes of political thinking of elites in both countries which should be and can be changed by objective historical analysis. Conclusion is made that the problem is based not on the fact that the state division of Russia and Ukraine took place - it was historically predetermined – but and on the way it took place: spontaneous one, without any even feeble attempt to consider the consequences of actions at least in the near-term prospect.
