What do future mathematics teachers' reflections on theory and practice reveal?

The article presents the results of a case study, of an interpretative character, carried out with future teachers taking the discipline of Mathematics Teaching Practice II, from the Mathematics Degree Course at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS). The study sought to analyze the reflections of future teachers on theory and practice. To this end, we elaborated, as a theoretical contribution, studies related to reflection in the context of teacher training, the relationship between theory and practice and praxis. We chose, as an instrument for data collection, the logbook, which is a powerful source for analyzing the records of the participants' reflections. The results of the present study encourage and enrich the research that deals with the formation of mathematics teachers, by revealing the importance of critical reflection, since the initial training, with a view to contributing to professional development through its praxis.
