The purpose of the article was the setting in order and the description of the range of indispensable media competencies of teachers (their knowledge, skill and attitude) in the domain of cyber threats, in a relational frame, on the example of the internet, taking into account generation changes. It has been suggested that this term - referring to the names of the fields of the global network - should include technical, social and informative competencies indispensable for all types of jointly discussed human activities (education, professional work, leisure). The thesis was accepted that the traditional (catalogue, normative, fragmentary) formulation of media competencies by teachers does not, on the whole, take into consideration social (generation), technological and informative changes. They concentrate mainly on the technological aspects, often disregarding remaining dimensions. The thesis was confirmed. The article has an analytic-descriptive and synthetic character.
