Abstract

After the query “social network*” in the Web of Science, the articles published in the Journals Social Networks and REDES this paper provides a general overview of this field of research. Moreover, with data about personal networks from the research projects in progress, it is argued that networks exhibit a dual nature that allows a new perspective about the dualities micro-macro and qualitative-quantitative.
