‘Vento’, draft of a Mario de Andrade’s novel
Abstract
The following study focuses on the writing process of the unfinished novel Vento (Wind), by Mário de Andrade, firstly an autonomous narrative, that, however, along the mobility of its creation, suffers many transformations and fragmentations until 1945, when Mário de Andrade dies and leaves unfinished versions, plans and sketches. The development of the characters' psychology as well as that of the themes in the narrative makes the manuscript go beyond the dimension of a simple sketch. So it may be considered a first fragmentary version of the novel and an instrument of analysis concerning to certain features in Mário de Andrade's fiction ¾ either concluded or not.
