A Suggested Approach For Predicting The Lateral Displacement Of Diaphragm Wall Based On Dimensionless Stiffness Of Support System
Abstract
Deep Excavation, especially its behavior during stage excavation, isa big challenge to us. This article used dimension analysis to explain the correlation between the stiffness of support system and lateral displacements of diaphragm walls, in the hope that with this correlation, lateral displacement of diaphragm wall can be predicted. Our approach is as follows: a) Factors and variables of support system which contribute mainly to the stiffness of the system were firstly investigated using dimensionless analysis; b) observed displacements at several sites were used to conduct a back analysis. Some significant correlations between the relative stiffness of supporting system and relative lateral displacements (i.e real data observed at sites) were postulated. This approach can be used for predicting lateral maximum movements of diaphragm walls or for designing support system to meet a given allowable displacement.
