The Act of the Great Union was the centuries-old dream of the Romanian people, a dream overshadowed by countless material sacrifices, but especially human. Since 1918, Paris has become the center of Romanian propaganda abroad and the newspaper ”La Roumanie” became the spokesman of Romanian interests. The pages of the newspaper reflect the suffering of the Romanian war prisoners. There are many testimonies that prove the cruel fate of these unfortunate people from the German war camps. All prisoners of war were physically and mentally abused, hungry and humiliated, but the Romanians were treated even more cruelly than the other prisoners. Inhuman gestures made by the German army will remain forever in people’s consciousness as a great shame, as an indelible stain on the face of humanity.
