This article analyses the elements dedicated to the political propaganda and the official thought in the chivalric books. Specifically, it studies one of the basis of royal power: the concept of "royal lineage", which is complemented by the ideas of "chosen lineage" and "royal blood." These three bases are synthesized in the lineage, which is chosen by God in order to protect the family. This work only analyses the prologues of the two books of the Palmerines cycle, Palmerín de Olivia (1511) and Primaleón (1512), in additsion to Renaldos de Montalbán (1515). It proposes a comparative study between the performance of the royal lineage in a fictional character, and in the personalities of the real nobility. The first one happens in the two Palmerines books, which were dedicated Don Luis Fernández de Córdoba, and the second one takes place in Renaldos de Montalbán.
