Aim. The purpose of this article is to study the mythopoetic picture of the world of the novel E. Vodolazkin "Laurus". Methodology. The article analyzes the plot scheme of the initiation rite, the organization of the mythopoetic chronotope, the mythologeme of death/resurrection, the motif of sleep and vision. The text is analyzed using structural-semiotic and historical-literary methods, as well as the method of motivic analysis. Results. The research results allowed us to draw a conclusion about the role of mythological images, plots, and motives included in the artistic structure of the novel. Research implications. The theoretical significance of the study is to expand the understanding of the work of E. Vodolazkin, identifying the mythological components that structure the writer's artistic world. The practical significance of the research is that the materials and conclusions of this research work can be used in the development of General courses on the history of modern Russian literature, as well as in the process of preparing and reading special courses devoted to the study of the work of E. Vodolazkin.
