Background A significant number of patients presenting with ureteric colic and other urinary symptoms have been observed at Rikillagaskada District Base Hospital, situated in the Nuwara-Eliya District, Sri Lanka. Materials and Methods Clinical and demographical features of a total of 116 patients presenting with features of urinary stone disease were analysed from May 2010 to December 2011. Results The mean age of the study sample was 46.61 years (SD=13.22) (range: 18-81 years). This included 72 (62.1%) males with a mean age of 47.69 ± 14.28 years, while the mean age of females was 44.84 ± 11.21 years. The major presenting symptom was flank pain (in 89.7 % of participants) , and dysuria (in 56% of participants). Forty two (36.2%) patients had a past history of ureteric colic. Conclusions Further studies with larger populations will be useful in further characterization of clinical and epidemiological data of the population.
