Interaksi Islam dan Budaya Lokal: Studi Kasus Pada Wayang Beber di Kabupaten Pacitan, Jawa Timur

Abstract

This research examines the process of interaction between Islam and local culture in Wayang Beber performances in Pacitan, East Java. Through a literature study approach, this study explores how the interaction between Islam and local culture brings about changes in the stories performed, the characters, as well as the use of symbols and aesthetics in accordance with Islamic teachings. The research also examines the Islamic moral and ethical values that need to be emphasized in Wayang Beber stories in order to help the local community know more about moral and spiritual education with the dalang playing an important role to convey the religious advice contained in the stories performed. This research is expected to provide insight into how local culture can adapt and develop in accordance with Islamic teachings without losing its original identity.
