This article offers an interpretation of the poem Poema Sujo considering the connection between the poet’s lightning, which “lights up past continents”, and the fulgurate image that the philosopher Walter Benjamin used in his concept of dialectic image. The image of lightning is a recurring theme in the poem and unfolds in a range of different registers: as the flash in the dark night of the past, memories (flashes) in the poet’s body, and in the manifestation of the poem itself. This article uses the tension between these heterogeneous times to reflect on the notion of image connected to the dimension of time. --- DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.25094/rtp.2017n23a421
