Tumor angiogenesis is a complex process of interaction between tumor cells and endothelial cells, which is regulated by a variety of angiogenic factors, inhibitors and signaling pathways, etc. Tumor angiogenesis promotes the incidence, development and metastasis of tumors. Recent studies have validated that some single traditional Chinese medicines and active ingredients, traditional Chinese medicine compounds or Chinese patent medicines with the functions of strengthening, removing blood stasis and detoxifying can promote the apoptosis of tumor vascular endothelial cells, inhibit the proliferation and migration of tumor vascular endothelial cells, suppress the expression of angiogenesis factors and down-regulate the expression of matrix metalloproteinases, thereby suppressing tumor angiogenesis in a multi-channel and multi-target manner. In this article, research progresses on tumor angiogenesis and anti-tumor angiogenesis of traditional Chinese medicine were reviewed.
