Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) is a local skin inflammation caused by fecal impregnation. By analyzing and summarizing the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) cognition, epidemiology, the concept of TCM external treatment and its application in IAD, this paper aims to broaden the thinking of IAD nursing, provide a basis for the exploration of more TCM external treatment methods applied to IAD, and provide a reference for the construction of systematic TCM external treatment methods applied to the nursing scheme of IAD patients.
